Por un arte independiente. Salud ¡30-30!

01 de Jan 1994 - 31 de Mar 1994

The Grupo ¡30-30! made a great contribution to Mexico’s history of art. That is why it was a pleasure to find the volume that contains a selection of documents that take part in the general archive Fernando Leal Audirac Expediente ¡30-30!, as well as several paintings, drawings and notes presented in the different exhibitions of the group, a collection that allows recreating in almost the original way how the group ¡30-30! carried out their exhibitions. The magazine ¡30-30! showed the ideology of the group and their universal principles in the artistic field.

These documents are the only record of this artwork that spread in the capital of the country and some other cities. Accordingly, the lecture of the article of José de Jesús Ibarra (leader of the strike in the Academy in 1911) regarding his experience as a student of San Carlos was of real interest. This essay took part of the project for the book “Historia episódica de la pintura revolucionaria mexicana”, which was written by several members of this movement and, unfortunately, was never carried out.

The museum was thankful with Fernando Leal Audirac for offering the archives as subject matter, and also with his father for his valuable pictorial collection. The work of the group ¡30-30! should occupy a place in the Mexican history of art.
