Roberto Cortázar began from a series of paintings of José Clemente Orozco to prove that art’s raw material can’t either be created nor destroyed; rather it can only be transformed. In the exhibition Los desmembrados según Orozco. Por Roberto Cortázar, he appealed to the tradition, not to reverence it or represent it excessively, but to evidentiate the paradox of creation: nothing is new and, at the same time, everything is about to be discovered.
