James Ensor. De lo real a lo imaginario. Colección del Banco KBC de Bélgica

08 de May 2008 - 31 de Aug 2008

Visionary of light and color, Ensor constantly addressed the political, religious, social, economic, and ethnic relations that affected Belgium. A trip that allowed him to get to know and learn about intellectual and literary motifs, which were an extraordinary inspiration for his creations. Between 1886 and 1895, his work developed from realistic scenes in a solemn and gloomy style to fantastic and grotesque forms. Masks, skeletons, and scenes from Christ’s life turned into the main elements of his labor. James Ensor. De lo real a lo imaginario emphasized the exceptional impact on the creative will that originated modern art. The Colección del Banco KBC de Bélgica presented in Mexico the complete series formed by 131 engravings and 154 lithographs of the great Belgian artist.
