Francisco Gutiérrez. 1906-1945

01 de Jun 2005 - 31 de Aug 2005

The exhibition Francisco Gutiérrez 1906-1945 gathered 235 artworks as part of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the death of the artist who was born in the city of Oaxaca in 1906. The chronological framework of Francisco Gutiérrez’s professional life took place in the 1930s and mid-forties. That was a moment in which great personalities of the cultural world coexisted, both in music and literature, as well as in plastic arts and architecture. He had a life of struggles and disappointments, always motivated by the creative inspiration that was not diminished, neither by his humble condition nor by his few formal studies. He took advantage of the time during the course of his short artistic life (1929-1945) by venturing into the techniques of engraving, gouache, tempering, oil, and drawing.
