01 de Dec 1992 - 31 de Jan 1993
The annual program of temporary exhibitions of the Museo Nacional de Arte concluded with the exhibition Ezequiel Negrete Lira (1902-1961). Pintor, grabador, escultor, from December of 1992 to January of 1993. This exhibition added up to the project Ecos y Reflejos, part of the great exhibition in Mexico: Esplendor de 30 siglos. It was important for the museum to highlight the different sides of the “national” aspect in the development of Mexican art.
For that matter, the Plein Air Painting Schools took an important part in the different aesthetic proposals that emerged from the postrevolutionary period in Mexico. The Museo Nacional de Arte offered a new lecture of Negrete by conjugating for the first time not only his side as painter and sculptor but also as an engraver.
The museography script was complemented with books, magazines, and catalogs that review his life and his participation in printed artworks. In order to modify some stereotypes regarding his personality and his artistic production.
The museum is thankful for the people and institutions who made a great effort in order to carry out this project, that recovered a spontaneous expression of the artistic manifestations that are ours.
