De artesanos y arlequines. Forjando una colección de arte moderno

01 de Dec 2005 - 31 de Jan 2006

In this exhibition, curated by James Oles, 66 artworks were shown and analyzed from four key themes, allowing a better understanding of post-revolutionary Mexican art. The first one entitled “Redescubrir lo popular” referred to the promotion of crafts by the urban elites. “Reinventar la nación” explored how the art was used to forge a new national identity; “Regresar al clasicismo” included images of allegoric figures in artworks that make reference to a noble Greco-Roman past. Lastly, “Retratar el ser” focused on a diverse group of portraits and self-portraits.
