The exhibition Alfredo Ramos Martínez (1871-1946). Una visión retrospectiva showed the different stages that Ramos Martínez went throughout his long life. These stages were the scheme that allowed to place with more accuracy the 152 artworks found, his instruction in the Academy, his transfer to Europe in order to finish his artistic education (1890-1909), his comeback to Mexico (1929-1946) and his lasts years of work in the United States (1929-1946).
The reflections on the graphic production of the artist, until 1929, contributed to outline his protagonism in the educational field and to explain his contradiction in the creative process that marginalized him and forced him to break new grounds in the United States. The assessment of the nearly 15 years of work in the city of Los Angeles clarified the American environment to which the artist was integrated to generate an output to the Mexican school of painting: a synthetic expression and a nationalist theme.
