1910: El arte en un año decisivo. La exposición de artistas mexicanos

01 de May 1991 - 31 de Jul 1991

1910: El arte en un año decisivo. La exposición de artistas mexicanos was exhibited during May and July of 1991. It was oriented towards the reflection on a frequently mentioned period, but that has done little research on the historiography of Mexican art. Through the Museo Nacional de Arte and the Museo Nacional de San Carlos, the National Institute of Fine Artes (INBA) intended to analyse and rebuild the exhibit of Mexican artists, at the same time of the Japanese and Spanish exhibitions that took part in the pompous celebration of the first centenary of our independence by the regime of Porfirio Diáz. In addition, in the Museo studio Diego Rivera there’s a review of the first individual work of Rivera, who in 1910 rendered account of his progress acquired in Europe.

The balance of La exposición de artistas mexicanos was successful. It was possible to identify and locate a significant percentage of the artworks displayed in the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes until September of 1910, making them appear now in the Museo Nacional de Arte. In addition, this publication collects, in order, the artists that Dr. Atl gathered on the occasion of the contest.
